BENDI-BUSES carrying almost twice as many passengers as double- deckers will be introduced on two Coventry bus routes.
The pounds 2 million fleet of ten bendi-buses - carrying 120 passengers - start today on the 17 and 27 routes, going between Coventry Rail Station, the city centre and Walsgrave Hospital.
At the moment, double-decker buses hold 70 passengers, including standing, but the new buses carry 56 seated and almost double again standing.
They are in service with Travel Coventry and are longer than the average bus, have better heating, lighting and ventilation, and have hi-tech CCTV cameras. The buses are also well suited for disabled people, with lower, easier access, and a space for onedisabled passenger at the front of the bus.
