MY piece last week about former City defender Liam Daish prompted several readers to ask for an in-depth look at his career.
Ron Atkinson signed Daish from Birmingham City for pounds 2.7m in February. 1996. at the same time as Eoin Jess.
The press conference was like the Little and Large show with the six- foot-plus man-mountain Daish alongside the slight, boyish looking Jess.
Less than a year later, after only 34 appearances in a City shirt, Liam suffered a knee injury in training and, despite two years of operations and treatment, he finally resigned himself to the fact that his professional career was over in the summer of1999.
