Controversy surrounded the outcome of the Indianapolis 500 with both Team Green drivers, Bathgate's Dario Franchitti and Canadian Paul Tracy, falling victim to decisions by officials at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
While the 29-year-old Scot saw his hopes wrecked as early as the 30th lap of the scheduled 200 round the famous 2.5-mile banked oval - he eventually finished 19th - Tracy was denied outright victory after stewards ruled he had overtaken the eventual winner Helio Castroneves under a cautionary yellow flag four laps from the end of the race.
The Team Green owner, Australian Barry Green, immediately protested the result and both stewards and officials locked...
