A COUNCIL is pushing for a new railway station, which would be only about 500yd from an existing one, because of a large university campus in the area.
Jordanhill, in the west of Glasgow, may be in line for the second station if proposals by the city council are supported by the Scottish Executive.
The council envisages it close to Jordanhill campus, which is now part of Strathclyde University, but argues that the existing station, although nearby, should remain open.
According to the council, there is a possibility of a capital contribution from Strathclyde University, which has to bus large numbers of students between its campus in the city centre and Jordanhill.
