Bus drivers in the Highlands plan to strike next week after negotiations to resolve a pay dispute broke down.
Public transport and school services will be disrupted for 24 hours on Wednesday when drivers from Highland Country Buses and Orkney Coaches, which are both owned by Rapsons, take to the picket lines for the first time ever.
The 200 drivers voted in favour of strike action this week following long negotiations to agree a new pay deal.
The threat of a strike was put on hold to allow talks in Inverness yesterday but union officials announced that there was no resolution as they left the meeting.
It is expected that the two sides will meet again at the beginning of the week...
