An operational RNLI lifeboat is being housed in a seaside town's former boathouse almost half-a-century after it was turned into a museum.
The charity's old lifeboat station in Pier Road, Whitby, closed in 1957 and reopened as Whitby Lifeboat Museum the following year. But the building is being brought back into service while the town's current RNLI lifeboat station on the Fish Pier is demolished and a replacement is built.
An inshore lifeboat will be temporarily stationed at the museum throughout the year-long construction period....
