A PROPERTY developer has outlined his vision to create a
Pounds 500m "model village" in the Aire Valley that could create thousands of jobs and homes on the outskirts of Leeds.
Templegate Developments is billing the regeneration project as the largest in Yorkshire and one of the biggest ever in the UK. The 546-acre mixed use development site comprises Skelton and Knostrop and runs parallel to the M1.
Key elements include 4.5m sq ft of employment and office space; up to 4,000 homes; hotel and retail support facilities; park and ride link and rapid transit link to the city centre; and leisure facilities, with some around the 60-acre Skelton lake.
Templegate said the "highly significant" scheme represented the only major corridor for growth in Leeds.
