When award-winning North-East artist Yvonne Gilbert posted two children's illustrations using Royal Mail's special delivery service, she thought they were in safe hands.
After all, the postal service knows the value of her skill. It has in the past paid her thousands of pounds to design special sets of award-winning Christmas stamps.
But three weeks on, the pictures are still "missing", and now bosses at Royal Mail have said the illustrations are only worth the cost of the paper they are printed on.
Mother-of-one Mrs Gilbert, 53, from Belle Grove Terrace in Spital Tongues, Newcastle, said: "I am absolutely furious. These are extremely valuable pieces of art."
