VICTORIA -- Canadian Jewish Congress (CJC) took an active role in helping defeat the Quebec referendum and intends to step up future efforts to foster Canadian unity, said Goldie Hershon, national president.
As Jews," she said, "we benefit from our good relations with Canada anti we are doing all we can to preserve our Jewish life in Montreal."
Hershon spoke at a meeting of the Victoria community at the Empress Hotel during a recent retreat of CJC national officers held here. She was on a panel to answer questions about the Quebec situation.
