THE Hobart City Council should consider making a bid for Princes Wharf No. 1 and use it as a conference venue, says Alderman Ron Christie.
He said yesterday the council could buy it, whether for a small fee or in a swap for another site, if the community supported it.
As part of the Hobart Waterfront Project, Princes Wharf No. 1 and No. 2 are likely to be sold to a private developer, on the condition that No. 1 be available for the Taste of Tasmania.
