Burlesque is back and Brisbane is bountiful, as these artists attest, writes Fiona Purdon

BRISBANE burlesque dancer Lady Cave always dreamed about learning from one of the world's best.
Fortunately she did not have to travel far to receive lessons from Brisbane's own internationally renowned burlesque star - Lola The Vamp.
Lady Cave, a university psychology student, says that for several years she followed Lola The Vamp's career along with other showgirl luminaries including Dita Von Teese and Catherine D'Lish.
Lady Cave and her sister Diamond Dahlia took the plunge into burlesque after seeing a poster advertising lessons with Lola The Vamp last year. Now, the sisters could not imagine life without burlesque. (All four women interviewed wanted to be called by their professional names because they say it is their true persona.)
"My sister and I always had been fans of Dita and Lola so it was, `Oh my god, we have someone in Brisbane'," Lady Cave says. "Brisbane didn't seem so small to have such an amazing international star like Lola.
"She is the best in Australia . . . it was a dream to not only meet her but to learn from her. She is so professional.
