Tre Armstrong has led a merry dance to stardom, reports NEALA JOHNSON.
LAST time Tre Armstrong was in Australia, she was performing as a backing dancer on hip-hop superstar Missy Elliott's 2004 national tour. Armstrong returns this week as a movie star.
The Canadian has hip-hopped her way down an unusual career path of concert dancing, music video dancing, dance films (Honey, Shall We Dance ), speaking a few lines in a dance film (Save the Last Dance 2 ), all the way to a lead role in new dance film How She Move.
"Oh pish-posh, movie star," the no-nonsense Armstrong says when asked if her days as a well-travelled backing dancer are behind her.
"I will continue to travel because different cities inspire me. Whether you're a choreographer, dancer or actress, you need inspiration, and you can't always get what you want...
