Jana decides to go private on public life
OUR last Jana yarn would probably have been something about that knee.
Or the socks and sandals debacle, which caused as much of a stir as the joint in question.
Or the dramatic aftermath to the Olympic 400m hurdles final in Athens.
Yesterday, talk moved on from hurdles and bad fashion choices as a more reserved Jana Pittman declared she wanted a lower profile.
Since the Athens debacle Pittman, 22, has become engaged, moved to England, split with her coach Phil King and more importantly, she says, found peace with herself.
She says the fuss over the knee has taught her a big lesson about media exposure.
"The biggest lesson I learnt from the Athens Olympics was probably the fact that I need to be more private with my athletic and off-the-track life," she said.
"Living overseas gives me that opportunity."
The most interesting aspect to the new Pittman set-up is her decision to now be coached by her fiance, Britain's 400m hurdles champion Chris Rawlinson.
"A lot of stars in the past have been coached by a person who's thoroughly involved in their life," she said.
"It means they know what they're doing.
"[Chris] is much better athletically than I am in terms that he thinks very thoroughly. He's very unemotional and very clinical whereas you all know that I'm a little bit emotional so it's probably a better side of me."
Pittman is back in Australia to help promote the Telstra-A series and will run in the 400m at the Melbourne grand prix meet next Thursday.

northern NSW.
Kidman's two children, Isabella, 12, and Connor, 10, are expected to join her this week in the Italian-style villa, normally used as a guesthouse.
The near $80,000 spent on the home during the filming period for Eucalyptus comes on the back of Kidman's Christmas holiday rental bill -- $38,000-a-week for a...
