FOOTBALL stars are calling for Channel 7 to break with its tradition and show football live on Friday nights this season.
Seven has confirmed footy viewers will see no live games on Friday nights as the network is committed to showing Better Homes and Gardens.
The gardening and lifestyle show usually outrates the football during the home and away season, but Footscray great Doug Hawkins said the
decision not to show football live was at the expense of families and children.
"The majority of people, families and kids sit together on a Friday night, they have their fish and chips at 7.30pm and want to watch their team or a good game of footy live," Hawkins said.
"No disrespect to Better Homes and Gardens -- it's a good show, but give me a break."
During Round 21 last year, the blockbuster match between Geelong and the Western Bulldogs attracted 432,000 viewers...
