Srinagar, June 8 -- Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh today restored Rs 1091 crore [$232 million] worth cuts in State's annual plan and Prime Minister's Re-construction Plan (PMRP) made during last financial year of 2009-10 as he announced Rs 900 crore [$191 million] for power sector and Rs 90 crore [19.1 million] for flood control while winding up his two day visit to the Kashmir valley.
A statement issued by PM's Media Advisor, Harish Khare here before the Prime Minister flew back to New Delhi this afternoon said Dr Singh has ordered restoration of cuts amounting to about Rs 400 crore [$85 million] to the State plan outlay for 2009-10. He also announced that the Centre has decided to dispense with the cut back of Rs 691 crore [$146.8 million] in last year's outlay in the PMRP.
Highly placed sources said the Prime Minister has approved laying transmission line between Srinagar and Leh at a cost of Rs 900 crore for connecting Ladakh region with Northern Grid. The transmission lines will be laid by the Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) and handed over to the State after completion.
