CONGRESS TO NAME NEW YORK COURTHOUSE AFTER THURGOOD MARSHALL
Legislation would dedicate historic Foley Square Federal Courthouse in New York City to Pioneer of American Jurisprudence
The United States Senate passed legislation by unanimous consent introduced by Senator Hillary Rodman Clinton and Charles E. Schumer to designate the United States Courthouse located in Foley Square in New York City the "Thurgood Marshall United States Courthouse."
The House of Representatives passed their version of this legislation, which was introduced by Representative Eliot Engel. The bill will now go to the President for signature.
Marshall worked at the historic 40 Centre Street building from 1961 to 1965, during his tenure as a justice on the U.S. Second Circuit Court of Appeals.
