A hotel study conducted by an independent consultant has demonstrated demand for a proposed 250-room hotel and conference center above AirTrain's Jamaica Station at Sutphin Boulevard and 94th Street.
Because of its quick and convenient access to JFK International Airport by AirTrain, the study asserted the Jamaica Station facility would "function as an airport hotel."
Assuming a 2006 opening, the hotel and a conference center of about 10,000 square feet would attract approximately 360 events, 35,735 attendees and generate 10,193 room nights during its first year, and by 2010 "achieve a stabilized occupancy rate of 72 percent and an average room rate of $159," based on a $132 today.
