The celebration of the life of the Rev. Oliver Brown II, is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 22, at 11 a.m. This celebration will be held at the Trinity Baptist Church, 2040 W. Jefferson Blvd. The Rev. Alvin Tunstill Jr. is the host pastor.
A service of remembrance will also be held at the First African Presbyterian Church, 6825 Crenshaw Blvd., of which Rev. Brown was the founder-pastor. This service will begin at 6 p.m. today, Thursday, Sept. 21.
First African Presbyterian remembered its pastor solemnly during its worship service on Sept. 17. The music he loved was played and the songs dear to him were presented which included "I Surrender All," and others.
The Rev. Ivor J. Duberry was the guest speaker Rev. Duberry is the general director of the African American Center for World Mission in Pasadena.
Speaking on "Stepping Out of Your Comfort Zone," Rev. Duberry told the congregation, "God gave Rev. Brown a vision, what did he see...
