More than 1,000 people gathered this week to celebrate the reopening of McKinley Technology High School. The original structure - built in 1928 - closed its doors in 1997 due to reduced enrollment and the lack of funds for renovations.
Scheduled to re-open this fall, McKinley Tech will combine a rigorous academic curriculum with state-of-the-art education in a variety of technological disciplines, namely, biotechnology, information technology and broadcast of digital media. School officials said the reopening of the high school represents a "rebirth" of a revered technical high school that is rich in tradition, pride and spirit.
