The military situation in Zaire's Shaba province defies description though Kings, Presidents and Generals claim to have the latest situation reports in hand and the course of the battle under control.
King Hassan II of Morrocco claims that his 3,000 troops, airlifted to Shaba in French Military air transports, are there to prevent a wider African war. They have been given the Royal command to protect the copper rich city of Kolwezi. His crack French trained troops are reportedly eager for battle and certain of victory. Other reports say that the Morroccan soldiers are growing restless with endless waiting.
President Mobutu of Zaire, after six weeks of fighting produced two bedraggled prisoners of war to the jubilant miltitudes of the Kinshasa sports stadium. There the prisoners recited the Mobutu litany that they were trained in Angola by Cubans armed with Russian weapons and led to Shaba frontiers by Cubans.
