SAN JOSE -- The reported sale of KSTS Channel 48, an independent UHF television station based here, to Telemundo Group of New York has alarmed its Filipino block-timer.
News that the station would be sold to the company which plans to convert it to Spanish-language programming appeared in the local dailies last month. KSTS station manager Don Weir confirmed the "pending sale" which he said should be finalized "this November." But when asked by Asian Week whether the sale would result in an overhaul of the station's format, Weir replied that details of the negotiations have not been disclosed.
Uncertainty in the future of KSTS has been cause for concern to Jose Santisteban, marketing director of Filmedia Arts, distributor of teh station's two-hour Filipino segment, "Filipiniana."
