Kresge Foundation awards grant to Brooklyn Botanic Garden
The Kresge Foundation of Troy Michigan, has awarded a $1.25-million challenge grant to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden toward construction of a new conservatory and other facilities.
The grant, the largest that has ever been awarded to the Garden, was announced June 10 at a meeting of Garden Trustees.
The grant is conditional, requiring that the Garden reach its fund raising goal of $22 million, to cover the full cost of the construction program, by November, 1988.
BBC President Donald E. Moore indicated that $2.5 million in additional contributions will be needed to achieve the objective. Previous commitments to the funding campaign, including an appropriation of $11.65 million through the New York City capital budget, have reached a total of approximately...
