This is a big year for YES-TV, the local student-run public access cable channel. Not only are students and staff working in a shiny new high-tech facility, but they just became partners with the state's major research university to expand programming.
YES-TV on Channel 12, operated through the Yakima Valley Technical Skills Center, broadcasts education and sports programs, which are filmed and edited by high school and college students. The new partnership with UWTV, the University of Washington's television service, will expand programming to offer local viewers such shows as health, science, technology, education and parenting programs from the UW and other research universities.
YES-TV and UWTV will share time and program space, with the local channel continuing to broadcast area sports, school board meetings, bulletin boards and other student-produced programs....
