Lancaster County Bible Church congregants heard a timely sermon about envy Sunday, part of the church's series on the Seven Deadly Sins.
And Sunday night, members without a coveted ticket to the Jeff Deyo Band concert had a chance to apply the "do not envy" message. Only 950 tickets were available for the 2,500-member church.
This time next year, space shouldn't be a problem. The sanctuary now under construction will hold 2,200 people, the county's largest capacity.
Church members are already praying for non-Christian friends and relatives to fill the sanctuary once it opens. The names of 2,000 such people are written on stakes surrounding the construction site.
Concertgoers paused to read the stakes as they filed into the church for Sunday night's concert.
LCBC worship pastor Matt Goss opened the show with his five- member rock group. Words to every song were projected onto screens concealing massive speakers. As Goss took the stage, technicians cranked sound from the speakers and the subwoofers beneath the platform to "high."
