HEAVY discounting by opposition Village Roadshow's theme parks has given Dreamworld a poor start to the 2010 financial year.
The Coomera theme park yesterday reported a 7.7 per cent slide in revenue for the September quarter to $21.89 million, compared to the same time last year.
However, the adjacent WhiteWater World appears to be paddling through the slump.
Theme park owner Ardent Leisure, formerly Macquarie Leisure Trust, said the revenue slide translated to a drop in profit of 4.5 per cent for Dreamworld to $9.24 million, before allowing for property costs.
