REDLANDS - People packed the Redlands Bowl Tuesday evening to view the Appalachia Waltz Trio's Mark O'Connor and new partners Soo Bae and Soyeon Lee.
A violinist, fiddler and composer, O'Connor is known for his compositions for such artists as Yo Yo Ma. Cellist Sue Bae teaches cello at the Julliard School and serves as chamber/cello faculty at the Geneva Conservatory in New York. And pianist Soyeon Lee is a recipient of the Arthur Rubenstein Prize, Julliard's highest honor for graduating pianist, and the Julliard School's William Petschek Piano Debut Award.
Before the Trio's performance Tuesday, Curtiss Allen Sr., led the bowl in the community sing. The show began after an introduction by program director Marsha Gebara.
O'Connor, Bae and Lee began their set with "Miniatures," a very melodic gospel-like song that had some audience members in tears.
