In a move toward further diversification of its publishing interests, Gaithersburg-based Aspen Publishers Inc. has acquired the publishing activities of Prentice Hall Law & Business, a New Jersey-based division of Viacom International.
Aspen Publishers, a privately-held division of Netherlands-based Wolters Kluwer NV, is expected to grow by about one-third through the acquisition to an estimated $50 million in sales next year.
"This gives us another leg to stand on," said Aspen President John Mannsan.
Aspen, which was acquired by Wolter Kluwer in 1978, currently publishes 40 quarter]y journals, 40 monthly newsletters and 150 loose-leaf services, and has a back list of more then 600 books.
