The Apollo Theater Foundation, Inc., and the Verizon Foundation have announced an innovative educational partnership that allows K-12 teachers to integrate the Apollo Theater's unique history into traditional classroom curricula. The Verizon Foundation is underwriting the first year of this effort through a grant of $100,000.
Since 2003, the Apollo has provided educational programs to students throughout the New York City metropolitan area on career opportunities in the performing arts and entertainment industries.
"This is a perfect fit for the Verizon Foundation and its signature education and literacy program, Thinkfinity.org," said Monica Azare, Verizon senior vice president for New York and Connecticut.
