TALLAHASSEE - The state's university board says Florida should spend nearly $20 million extra to make sure campuses are safe from shooters like those that struck at Virginia Tech and Northern Illinois.
The university system's Board of Governors voted Thursday to increase the university system's budget request to the Legislature by $18 million for a variety of safety-related expenses.
