They'd all hoped it was a possibility, North Catholic Coach Kevin Orga missing the WPIAL playoffs for another, perhaps last, crack at making it to the show.
"But based on last year's record, and the year before that, and the year before that," said Kevin's father and assistant Frank Orga, "we figured we'd just get the program back to where it needs to be and address the situation if we needed to. We hoped it would be a problem."
And it is, or was. Orga has gone off to play in the Northeast Professional Independent League and has been replaced in the dugout by his father.
"The pressure's on," said Frank Orga, who, at 55, will manage his first varsity baseball game in the first round of the upcoming WPIAL Class AA playoffs.
To backtrack, Frank Orga is a North Catholic graduate and former teacher and had been an assistant football and baseball coach.
He also coached the hockey team, of which current athletic director Bud Beatty was a member.
