It's not a bad gig, giving folks $10,000 or so for knowing entertainment trivia such as the title of the first Indiana Jones movie or the actor who played J.R. on "Dallas." (For the record: "Raiders of the Lost Ark" and Larry Hagman.)
"It's great to give someone 10, 11, 13 thousand dollars and have them look at you during the commercial break and tell you what they're going to do with the money," says Todd Newton, host of "Hollywood Showdown" on the Game Show Network. A newlywed intended to make a down payment on a house, while another winner was contemplating a new car.
The Game Show Network can be seen by some (not all) cable customers and those with digital cable and satellite service.
