Tucked in the northeast end of Wentzville for the past 13 years is a Korean seminary and university, a place that is unknown to many, even those who live in the city.
Andy Baker and his neighbors in the Brookshire Creek subdivision, however, are quite aware of the school. They bought homes across from a building on the campus of Midwest University that they initially thought was a church.
Then they saw the light.
Baker and others in Brookshire Creek have complained to aldermen that it's too bright. The glow coming from Midwest University is so strong, Baker says, it illuminates his house at night. And with a development plan that includes four additional buildings at the university, Baker is concerned the light coming from Midwest will get even brighter.
"You can turn off all of the lights in my house at night and still read a book," Baker said. "I'm afraid these buildings are going to go in and my land value is going to go down."
