Mark Andrew announced Tuesday that he will step down as chairman of the Hennepin County Board and acknowledged that he is interested in pursuing the leadership of the state's DFL Party. He will remain as a county commissioner, serving the district that includes portions of south Minneapolis and St. Louis Park.
Andrew, board chairman for more than two years, said he will consider seeking the DFL post, but is still consulting political advisers. An election probably will be held in the summer.
