IT'S so nice to get a second chance. How I never watched one of the best series on television is not a question I can answer but luckily I can now catch up with The West Wing right from episode one.
The multiple award-winning series began on Sony Entertainment Television last week. It runs Mondays to Fridays at 7pm. Even better, the channel has scheduled repeats that can easily be recorded for later consumption, which is making me feel very warm and fuzzy towards them at the moment.
If only the same thing could be said of M-Net and Mad Men. I nodded off in last Sunday's episode, something which I blame on an extremely long lunch and multiple bottles of wine. Now there is no more M-Net Xtra, I'm going to have to change my rhythms and watch it on M-Net Series, where it's broadcast a few weeks behind.
Sometimes it can be refreshing to clamber out of the routine (some would say rut) and watch my favourite stories in repeat slots. And sometimes it's necessary if you want to watch other things that clash. Like season two of Really Big Things on Discovery (Tuesdays at 9pm).
It's really guy stuff, and bigger is better. Size really does count, and all that. In the first episode, host Matt Rogers helped pitch the massive big top for Cirque du Soleil, which was full of interesting factoids and statistics. Most of the inserts are, and answer all the questions you might have about how big, how wide, how deep or how high.
There have been man-made white-water rapids which are used for fun...
