SAN ANTONIO, Jan. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Texans will view the news of their home state through a sharper lens beginning today with the debut of the Texas Network (TXN), a new San Antonio-based regional, fully digital television news network that broadcast its first syndicated programming to 17 of 20 major media markets statewide.
With the premier of TXN's new daily news program, The News of Texas, Texas viewers have a daily source of news that focuses specifically on events taking place in Texas -- delivered in detail by reporters and anchor teams who explain not only what has happened, but also why it matters and how it affects Texans in their daily lives.
"TXN is the culmination of a dream I've held for more than a decade," said Bob Rogers, President and CEO of TXN. "After retiring from KENS-TV (San Antonio) in 1996, I partnered with a group of folks who also saw a need to bridge the gap between the news offered by national networks and the local broadcasts. We hired the top research firms in the television news field, and their surveys confirmed our inclination -- some 77% of adult Texans want more news about Texas than they're getting in their local news broadcasts."
Rogers' findings compounded his excitement about the project, and since last June, he has put together a television news network that surpasses every benchmark previously set by similar organizations, either on a statewide or national level....
