Johannesburg, 12 March: Heavy financial losses have forced the South African Airways (SAA) to end its joint venture with Nigeria Airways as from 24 March, bringing to a close the Johannesburg- Lagos-New York route, the parastatal announced on Tuesday [12 March].
SAA's statement said the route between the two countries was launched in February 2001 and connected Lagos with New York, eight years after Nigeria Airways stopped flying directly to New York.
