For Wacey Rabbit, the road to the NHL has so far been one of patience but also one of change.
After the former WHL star was drafted in the fifth round (154th overall) of the 2005 entry draft by the Boston Bruins, Rabbit played the first few years of his professional career with American Hockey League affiliate Providence.
Rabbit progressed statistically each of those years, netting 16 goals and 74 penalty minutes in 2008-'09, but the center felt he wasn't nearing a shot with the big club.
"My contract was up in Boston and so I had the option of walking," said the Lethbridge native, who played some of his minor hockey in Fort Macleod. "I figured I wasn't really going to get a chance in Boston, with all the depth out there. Nashville called, offered me good money and a good opportunity so I signed there."
The one-year deal came knowing the Predators weren't as solid up the middle as the Bruins' organization and Rabbit thought he would have a chance to be a call-up player.
