In November of 1995 (last century), Dream Works Pictures SKG acquired the rights to William Steig's "Shrek." On May 18, 2001, the first Shrek movie had die largest DreamWorks opening in the studio's brief history; had a double-platinum music soundtrack CD and won the first every Academy Award® for "Best Animated Feature." The first DVD has sold a mind boggling forty-three million units to date. The second Shrek had the largest five-day opening of all time and became the third highest grossing film of all time. The second DVD set a record selling 12.1 million units in the first three days of release. The third Shrek pounced on the competition with a hefty $121 million domestic box office weekend opening and crossed the $600 million global threshold pushing the entire Shrek franchise...
