STILLWATER, Okla., Jan. 14 -- Oklahoma State University's Spears School of Business issued the following news release:
Rep. David Dank, R-Oklahoma City, said earlier this week that he would use his position as the chairman of the House Revenue and Taxation subcommittee to launch an investigation into Oklahoma's tax system with the goal of doing away with state income tax.
"We are already being left behind in economic and job growth by states like Texas with no income tax," Dank said. "If we are going to compete in the crucial next few years, we need to stop talking and start acting to dramatically reform our state tax system."
Dank said he is looking to make up the loss in revenue by closing some tax credits and a higher sales tax on items excluding groceries and prescription drugs.
