How are you feeling about your upcoming New Voices gig at Celtic Connections? What can we expect? I am more excited now. I was nervous before. I have taken part previously at Celtic Connections on the Danny Kyle Open Stage. We didn't win the overallprize but we did win one of them. We were then guaranteed a slot this time around but then I got a phone call from the organiser asking if I wanted the New Voices gig - which is better than anything I could have expected.
It is amazing, daunting and a real privilege. It is a commissioned gig, there's money involved. You have to do a good job and it will be my first proper concert. It is quite big in many respects and I am really thankful.
Most of the stuff I am playing I have already done with the band. One of the pieces is going to be an instrumental and I have a choir involved that I have been practising with. Song-wise, there is a whole range of newer stuff but also a lot of oldersongs that I haven't had time to record yet.
I am starting to accumulate a good collection of tracks, having had a few years now to write them.
What else do you have planned for this year? January is really busy. I'm doing a festival in Holland,...
