HARWOOD ARMS HEAD CHEF LEAVES LONDON'S ONLY MICHEUN-STARREDPUB
Stephen Williams, head chef at the Harwood Arms -London's only Michelinstarred pub-is to leave his position at the end of February. Williams, who has been at helm of the 60-seat venue in Fulham, west London, since its launch in 2008, is leaving to go travelling for up to a year. He will be replaced by sous chef Barry Fitzgerald, who has worked at the pub for six months, having previously worked with Anthony Demetre at Arbutus and Wild Honey.
Twenty-eight-year-old Williams told Caterersearch he was heading to France and Australia at the end of next month. "I have always wanted to go travelling and now seems like agreattime,"hesaid.
TOM AIKENS LAUNCHES EVENTS SERVKX AT SOMERSET HOUSE
Michelin-starred chef Tom Aikens (below) has launched an events catering service at Somerset House where he operates Tom's Kitchen and Tom's Deli. Tom's Events will provide catering at each of the different venues at Somerset House, which cater for events of up to 500 guests.
Aikens said: "Since the launch of Tom's Terrace at Somerset House last April we've focused on steadily growing the offerto include a range of options for breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks with Tom's Kitchen and Tom's Deli. Tom's Events is a great opportunity to further develop the choice of menus."
POLPO SET TO LAUNCH BASEMENT BAR
London restaurant Polpo is set to open a baron the lower ground floor of its Soho site.
The Polpo Cicheti Bar, which will open on 8 February, will serve drinks and a menu of light snacks, including traditional Venetian bacari of artichokes with prosciutto, chilli marinated baby octopus and mortadella wrap with gorgonzola and walnuts.
