John Woestendiek was a reporter for the Baltimore Sun a few years back.
"Like a lot of papers, the Sun wanted us to run blogs," he said from his Winston-Salem home during a phone interview. "I took on the dog blog. One day, I ran an item about this anonymous woman who paid to get her dog cloned. The next day, when I got to my desk, I had 15 phone messages."
All of them were from the anonymous woman, Bernann McKinney.
"She starts talking," Woestendiek said. "She told her life story into my voice mail."
