The Allegheny County Airport Authority will spend $875,000 next year on promotions aimed at increasing traffic at Pittsburgh International Airport, officials said on Friday.
The money will be spent on advertising in Western Pennsylvania and Northeast Ohio, while a large chunk -- $175,000 -- will go toward advertising the airport's lone trans-Atlantic route.
"Our goal is to get (the trans-Atlantic service) back up to seven days a week," said airport spokeswoman JoAnn Jenny.
Allegheny Conference on Community Development Vice President Ken Zapinski, who headed a group that helped land the Paris route, welcomed the advertising, but said, "It's up to the community to respond in terms of ticket buying."
