This is one of those books for the lucky person who is told that he or she has just won the job of leading the organisation, who smiles brightly, shakes the hands, drinks the celebratory champagne and then goes home in terror asking him or herself 'what do I do next?' It is unfortunate, therefore, that the book opens with the discouraging words "Leadership is never easy", which conceivably might result in the next step being a move from the champagne to the brandy. Nevertheless, if you can jump over that minor authoring faux-pas and persevere, you will find this a well-structured guide to leadership for the newly-anointed.
